Home Office Reveal

Hello friends, and happy almost weekend! If you watch my stories on Instagram, then you all know that we have decided to tackle our downstairs! We live in a split level home and have been renovating and living on the top floor, which is more than enough space for our little family of four!

We recently decided that we were ready to start working downstairs as some of our living needs have changed and one of the first things I knew I wanted down there was a work space of my own!

In between blogging and Instagramming, as well as client work and massive renovation plans of our own, I desperately needed a home work space where I could keep everything organized and sit down and knock some work out!

We live in a 4000 sq ft home with a massive downstairs, and ultimately we decided that the large layout allowed for a lounge (which we are currently working on) as well as my office!

Here are a couple before photos of the office space!!

As you can see, we were dealing with a lot of sponge paint, a lot of broken and dated trim and basically no furniture!

We painted this entire space, repaired all of the trim and decided to do a nice molding around the bottom of the room!

I was so excited to work with Overstock to help furnish this space and create the dusty pink home office of my dreams!

Anddddddd, here’s the finished space!!!

I knew that I wanted a simple and sleek desk and a something a little bit modern and I fell in love with the HomCom rotating desk from Overstock! My favorite part about this desk is that it has a swivel and it rotates, so I can use it as a corner desk as well! I love all of the surface space this desk gives and the little shelves are perfect for some extra books and some trinkets! I was then able to prop my mood boards up on the built in ledge and I love the look!

What is a desk without the perfect office chair! I’ve always been in love with the aesthetic of egg chairs, but not the price! overstock has this amazing brown egg chair and it was so well priced and great quality! I love how it looks with my white HomCom desk and how it adds a bit of contrast to this space!

I know you all know my love for rugs! I’m a firm believer that rugs make the room and I usually have a rug in mind at the beginning of my design process! My color palate was really warm with the dusty pink, oranges and mustards! I know I wanted something bold and with a great pattern and when I saw this Hand Tufted Beecher Geometric area rug, I knew she was the one! I went with the 8’ x 10’ and it is perfect in the room! It reaches from one side to the other and I love the color and texture it adds. It’s also the softest ever and has a nice thick pile, which is perfect for a work space!

For the other wall in the office, I wanted to have a couch! I love working at the desk, but when it comes to reading or writing up blog posts, I’m more of a couch girl! Some of you may remember, but I had this mustard Novogratz futon upstairs in the living room at one point! I held onto her and she went perfectly in the office against the dusty pink walls and with the Beecher geometric rug! I went ahead and threw on my favorite roundies from livelovesmile and my goatskin from Eastperry and i't’s the perfect place to sit down with a good book! Untill we get to working on a guest room, the futon is the perfect place for guests as well!

The art hanging above the couch is from Displates! They are a really cool company that make metal prints that hang on the wall with magnets! They work with a lot of different artists and have a really large collection of prints to chose from!

As far as lighting goes, we definitely needed to get rid of the old dated light fixture but I knew we needed another flush mount! This is a high traffic area where people are always walking through and we needed something flush to the ceiling! I loved the simple and modern look of the Julien flush mount from Hudson valley lighting! This little trio flush mount was so cute and unique and the perfect fixture for the office!

There you have it, a quick little tour of my newly renovated home office! I’m so excited for this project to finally be finished and also excited for what else is in store! Cant wait to show you all everything else we have planned for this downstairs!!
